It is with profound sadness that the Le Moyne College community and college soccer world mourn the passing of Jaro Zawislan, the head coach of the women’s soccer program at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York. Zawislan was a respected figure in collegiate soccer whose influence stretched across decades and institutions.
Born in Poland, Jaro Zawislan built a lifelong legacy rooted in the sport he loved. After a standout collegiate career as a goalkeeper at Clemson University—where he earned multiple honors and set school records—he played professionally in both the United States and Poland.
Zawislan’s true impact, however, came through coaching. Beginning his coaching journey at Creighton University and later serving as assistant at Stanford and Syracuse University, he developed a reputation for leadership, tactical knowledge, and a commitment to player growth.
He went on to serve as head coach of Cornell University’s men’s soccer team for seven seasons, guiding the program to multiple winning campaigns and helping to elevate its competitive stature.
At Le Moyne College, Zawislan took the helm of the women’s soccer squad, where his passion and mentorship left a lasting mark on student-athletes, colleagues, and the broader athletics community.
